Dr. Terrence M. Gosliner received an A.B. degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Biological. His Master’s Degree is from the University of Hawaii in Zoology and his PhD. is from the University of New Hampshire. He taught Zoology at the University of New Hampshire and served as Chief Professional Officer at the South African Museum in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a Fellow of the California Academy of Sciences and has been awarded the Fellow’s Medal by the California Academy of Sciences. He has worked at the California Academy of Sciences as a research Curator since 1982 and has published 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals together with four books. He utilizes phylogenetic techniques, both morphological and molecular to reconstruct the evolutionary relationships of major groups of opisthobranchs. He has used these phylogenies to study adaptive radiation, evolution of color patterns and implications to conservation biology. He has conducted collaborative research in the Philippines since 1992. Additionally he has conducted extensive field work in southern Africa, Madagascar, the Seychelles, Papua New Guinea, Mexico, Costa Rica, the Galapagos Islands and California.
