Comment from Richard Willan: This aeolid nudibranch appears to be endemic to South Africa. Its cerata are long and rather numerous for the genus, and each has an opaque bluish white line along its anterior face. This longitudinal band plus the red pigment on the posterior face completely hide the internal digestive diverticulum. In contrast, the similar-looking Phyllodesmium serratum has transparent cerata through which the diverticulum can be seen easily and a much paler longitudinal stripe down the back, or it is sometimes absent altogether.
