Comment from Richard Willan: A typical individual from the western Mediterranean Sea. H. midatlantica is one of a group of similarly-coloured blue chromodorids centred in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. In Hypselodoris midatlantica, there is a mid-dorsal longitudinal stripe, the mantle has a yellow marginal band and there is a series of pale blue spots in between. This species was widely known in nudibranch literature under the name Hypselodoris tricolor.
Taken in Rapallo (National Park of Portofino) 20 km south of Genoa.
