Comment from Richard Willan: Notice how the parapodia of this Aplysia are separated very low down on the body right at ground level– this character make it a member of the subgenus Varria, and definitely excludes A. juliana as a possible identification because that is in the subgenus Aplysia where the parapodia are fused much higher up on the body. I have a suspicion that this species might be A. gigantea which is common elsewhere in the Indian Ocean, so call it Aplysia cf. gigantea. This photo shows this species can swim, so that narrows down the number of possibilities considerably. Here another photo of this same species
