Comment from Richard Willan: By contrast, the similar looking species Chromodoris thompsoni has distinct bluish spots or patches in addition to the dark red spots on the mantle. In Chromodoris woodwardae there are pale rings around the red spots (as in this photo), but never large bluish patches.
