Comment from Richard Willan: The gills are arranged in a transverse row across the back in this species (nicely shown in this photo) and also in Analogium amakusanum, which is why they are both presently placed in the genus Analogium rather than Gymnodoris (in which the gills are arranged in a circle as in all other dorids).
