Ken Tucker

Nationality: American

Residence: San Francisco, CA, USA

Ken never saw the ocean until he was 34. At the age of 48, he learned to dive and swim, finally overcoming an intense fear of the water. Underwater photography immediately followed. Fourteen years later, he is now a master diver and cave certified. He considers his pursuit of underwater photography secondary to no other interest. Working thru numerous camera systems, he has finally settled on a Nikon D2x/Subal system, with INON Z-240 strobes.

Ken is by education a mathematician, by past profession a software developer, and currently spends most of his time on photography, PhotoShop, and the management of an extensive photo database. He "discovered" Indonesia in 2005, and now spends a month each year photographing there. Ken has a strong leaning towards underwater macro photography, especially sea slugs, which he considers not only beautiful, but reasonably cooperative relative to photo opportunities. He has about 1,100 different underwater species represented on his web site, www.kilili.com.

[I know the photo does look rather grim, but I really am much more light-hearted than that. - Ken]
