A juvenile individualComment from Richard Willan on photo #7849
The bluish white marginal band characteristic of this species is just visible anteriorly silhouetted against the black background.Comment from Richard Willan on photo #6413
I think this individual is Chromodoris preciosa because, if one magnifies the photo and looks hard at the very edge of the mantle, there is a faint white marginal band. This band is difficult to observe in most places because it is in deep shadow. Certainly the speckled mantle with minute pustules are identical with those of Chromodoris preciosa.Comment from Richard Willan on photo #3962
Note the relatively broad outermost pale blue-white marginal band on the mantle. In this individual the red band next to it is reduced to a series of dots.Comment from Richard Willan on photo #2023
This is a coincidence this photo should come in now because I was just explaining the differences between Chromodoris preciosa and Chromodoris albonares to you yesterday. Note the very thin white band at the very edge of the mantle in Chromodoris preciosa followed closely by red and orange bands.Locality:

Chromodoris albonares is quite a small species has only an orange band around the edge of the mantle and (especially large) white rhinophores and white gills.
Chromodoris preciosa is a relatively larger species has three colour bands right next to each other - a thin white band at the edge, then a band of deep red, and inside that a band of yellow. Also, the gills and rhinophores are reddish.
