Comment from Richard Willan on photo #11769
An atypical individual that lacks any dark purple spots/streaks on the inner side of the orange marginal band. This orange band is also a darker apricot-red colour than is usual for this species (the band is normally yellowish orange).Comment from Richard Willan on photo #6406
This is an interesting individual. This name Chromodoris rubrocornuta is assigned to this individual – with some hesitation – on the basis that the rhinophores and gills are reddish and the pigmented ‘tongues’ hardly extend across the central area of the mantle in comparison to Chromodoris fidelis, where they extend a considerable distance across the mantle. Typical Chromodoris rubrocornuta has a broad orange marginal band then a deep reddish band which broadens then narrows along its inner edge to give a red scalloped pattern. Inside that again is a narrow, opaque white line.Locality:
