In this small bivalve the transparent mantle completely overgrows the valves that are permanently widely gaping, so the shells are internal. The animal’s inhalant siphon can be seen on the left.

This is a bizarre genus of bivalves in which the mantle (which is translucent and covered with papillae) permanently extends from the shell and covers the outside of the valves just like a cowrie snail.
