A typical individual from the western Mediterranean Sea. H. midatlantica is one of a group of similarly-coloured blue chromodorids centred in the eastern Atlantic Ocean. In Hypselodoris midatlantica, there is a mid-dorsal longitudinal stripe, the mantle has a yellow marginal band and there is a series of pale blue spots in between. This species was widely known in nudibranch literature under the name Hypselodoris tricolor.Locality:
