A nice photo of a typical individual. Noumea purpurea is characterised by the dark pink to purple mantle with a white streak down the midline that does not encircle the branchial pocket posteriorly, and also by the vivid apricot orange rhinophores and gills. This important photo shows Noumea purpurea is not endemic to Japan as was previously thought.Locality:
