In this species the digestive diverticulum within the cerata is normally white, but in this individual it is orange. Despite this unusual colour, other characters of this individual which match Phyllodesmium iriomotense well are the cylindrical and loosely coiled cerata, narrow main duct of the digestive diverticulum within the cerata, side branches coming off this main duct at all directions, and very long thin oral tentacles.
