Comment from Richard Willan on photo #28381
This individual is on its side and the transparent mantle (complete with stumpy papillae) can be seen covering the right valve. The foot is extended a little bit.

Comment from Richard Willan on photo #31747
In this family of small bivalves, the animal completely extends beyond the shell valves, the mantle has numerous papillae all over, and it creeps along on its foot like a gastropod. So, if juliids (Opisthobranchia: Sacoglossa) could be described as “bivalved gastropods”, these galeommatids can be described as “gastropodized bivalves”!

Comment from Richard Willan on photo #25672
A live specimen with the mantle extended all over the shell like a cowrie shell.
