Comment from Richard Willan on photo #6407
Fifty years ago it was speculated that only one species of Umbraculum exists throughout the world (that is Umbraculum umbraculum), and this idea has now been proven genetically. So this one must be called Umbraculum umbraculum regardless where it comes from.

The name Umbraculum mediterraneum is no longer valid (that is, it is a junior synonym of Umbraculum umbraculum).

This looks like it is sitting on a huge ribbon of eggs?

It is extraordinarily rare to record this species in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean.
